Resilient Building Isolation
Effective vibration isolation is essential for protecting buildings from shocks, vibrations, and noise, particularly in urban environments where high-quality building land is becoming increasingly scarce. Constructing buildings on dynamically loaded sites requires intelligent engineering solutions.
The primary sources of mechanical vibrations are often nearby transportation infrastructure, especially underground rail systems such as metro and suburban railway lines. These can generate disturbing noise and perceptible vibrations that affect surrounding buildings and occupant comfort.

Impact Sound Insulation
Impact sound is generated through the normal use of rooms. It is transmitted through the floor structure into adjacent rooms and lower floors, where it is perceived as unwanted noise. For example, footsteps on parquet flooring can significantly affect the comfort of occupants in neighboring apartments.
Effective impact sound insulation minimizes sound transmission and significantly improves the acoustic performance of a building without limiting the choice of flooring materials. In multi-purpose and multi-occupancy buildings, high-quality acoustic insulation is essential for long-term comfort and compliance with building standards.
Isolation of Solid Staircases
Movement within buildings—such as walking—generates structure-borne sound, which can be transmitted through walls and floors into adjacent rooms. A common but easily preventable source of disturbance is noise originating from stairwells. The resilient isolation of stair flights and landings significantly reduces the transmission of noise and vibrations to surrounding structural elements.
For effective resilient decoupling, Sylomer® provides a high-performance engineering material suitable for a wide range of staircase constructions. Depending on the application, it can achieve an impact sound improvement of more than 40 dB.
Steel-Reinforced Elastomer Bearings
Steel-reinforced elastomer bearings combine high-performance polyurethane elastomers with integrated steel reinforcement layers to support high loads within a minimal installation area. This design makes them ideal for heavily loaded applications where limited space must be combined with high load-bearing capacity and effective vibration isolation.

Typical applications include point bearings beneath columns or multiple point bearings arranged along load-bearing walls in multi-storey buildings.
Sylodyn® Strip Bearings
The joint sound reduction index (Kij) plays a crucial role in the transmission of flanking sound, as it indicates the acoustic coupling at structural junctions. With the appropriate decoupling solution, it is even possible to eliminate the need for an additional lining wall in certain applications.

Sylodyn® stands out for its excellent dynamic properties and exceptional long-term durability. It is resistant to moisture, as well as to common construction oils and greases, and has proven its performance in both practical applications and independent laboratory testing over several decades. These characteristics make it an ideal material for the resilient isolation of structural joints.

Intermediate Plates
Modern railway lines are increasingly constructed using slab track systems. The required elasticity in these systems is provided by high-performance Getzner rail pads, which are installed between the rail baseplate and the concrete support slab.
These resilient rail pads preserve the rail's load-distribution characteristics while reducing vibrations caused by wheel and track irregularities. By optimizing the stiffness distribution of the rail pad, rail head deflection during train passage can be significantly reduced.
Sleeper Boot Pads
Slab track systems require sufficient elasticity to activate the load-distributing effect of the rail. For example, the Sonneville LVT system uses individual block sleepers installed in rubber boots together with Sylodyn® sleeper boot pads from Getzner.
A resiliently supported sleeper block offers several advantages, including the reduction of structure-borne noise radiation. The additional moving mass of the sleeper block helps minimize the transmission of vibrations, resulting in improved acoustic performance.
Continuous Rail Support
BS Trading's Continuous Rail Support is a continuous, resilient rail support solution designed for rail foot mounting, while also compensating for installation-related height differences. The required stiffness and rail deflection are precisely defined in advance and achieved through the appropriate selection of resilient materials.
This highly efficient and cost-effective solution helps extend the service life of all track components while improving the overall performance and durability of the track system.
Mass–Spring Systems
Getzner Mass–Spring Systems provide highly effective protection against vibrations and noise for people living near railway lines. These systems are used wherever maximum protection from unwanted vibrations is a top priority.
Getzner offers three bearing configurations for mass–spring systems: full-surface, strip, and point support. The most suitable solution is selected based on the project's technical and economic requirements.
The results are both measurable and perceptible. In numerous successfully completed urban and mainline railway projects, Getzner mass–spring systems have achieved natural frequencies as low as 5 Hz.
Interlayers
Getzner interlayers are installed directly beneath the rail foot. They provide improved load distribution while increasing the elasticity of ballasted track systems, resulting in reduced wear of track components and enhanced ride comfort.
Under Ballast Mats
BS Trading Under Ballast Mats provide a high level of track elasticity, effectively reducing vibrations and structure-borne noise while protecting the ballast from excessive wear. In addition, the mats are easy to handle, quick to install, and durable enough to be driven over by heavy construction equipment.
Sleeper Pads
Sleeper Pads are designed to provide effective vibration protection, reduce wear on the ballast beneath railway tracks, and improve track stability. They are used on high-speed railway lines, heavy axle load routes, and for the rehabilitation of existing railway infrastructure.
